Last week I was in New York City for the 99% Conference. I attended the conference as part of IPT’s receipt of the Alva Emerging Fellowship. For those that don’t know about the 99%, it is a blog devoted to making ideas happen. The conference was built along the same lines, and featured speakers such as Jad Abumrad (creator of Radiolab), Keith Yamashita (SYPartners), and Tony Fadell (former leader of Apple’s iPod division). The speakers all shared their thoughts and experiences on the best practices in making ideas happen.
It was truly the most influential and well done conference I have ever been to. There were countless lessons and takeaways that I will continue to use in leading creative projects, and bettering my own productivity.
Thanks to the 99% and Behance for the opportunity to attend!
I love what I do. It’s great to wake up and head to work knowing I am working on projects I enjoy with people I love working with. And while I have this joy in what I am doing, it’s even more fulfilling when I remember what a great comunity we are part of.
Tonight was the annual Champaign County Innovation Celebration (http://www.innovationcelebration.com/). The Innovation Celebration honors local entrepreneurs and innovators for their achievements. Tonight it really struck me how many amazing things are going on in this community, and how awesome it is to be part of it. The number of innovations both new and ongoing is truly astounding, and I’m honored to be just a small part of the community.
An Evening in Virginia Illinois with Marty Stuart. I recorded this video towards the end of last summer, and have been meaning to post it for awhile. It’s from the Annual Virginia BBQ Festival.
